Scholarship and Education Fund Policy Statement

In furtherance of its scientific and academic goals, the International Society of Bone and Soft Tissue Pathology (the Society) has established an Award, Scholarship and Education Fund to provide financial support for conference best poster award by investigator in training, distinguished achievement award, scholarships, and further educational opportunities.

The Fund will be governed by the following policies and administered by the Society’s executive board:

The Award, Scholarship and Education Fund (the Fund) will be recorded as a separate account on the books of the Society.

The Society will establish and maintain a separate bank or brokerage account to custody funds donated to the Society for the Fund.

The Society will maintain appropriate records of gifts received and amounts disbursed.

The Society will provide receipts and annual statements to donors.

The Fund’s assets will be invested appropriately and will be reviewed by the Board at least quarterly.

Disbursements from the Fund will be made at the discretion of the Board to support defined awards, scholarships, or educational courses for the Society’s annual conference or other special conferences (e.g. special session as part of a liaison relationship with related society). Policies used to determine those individuals or courses receiving will be developed and approved by the Board.

In the event the Board decides to terminate the Fund in the future, any undistributed funds will be retained for use by the Society to cover its ordinary and necessary operating expenses.

Additions, deletions, or changes to the policies pertaining to the Fund will be approved by a majority of the members of the Society’s Board.
