Bone and Soft tissue Pathology
I am part of a large, multidisciplinary team that focuses on the management of bone and soft tissue sarcomas, including the translocation associated and genetically complex sarcomas in the adult and pediatric age group. I review and report the bone and soft tissue specimens that are resected. I also practise cytopathology with an emphasis on FNA of bone and soft tissue pathology. My research interest involves the study of genomic alterations in genetically complex sarcomas, such as pleomorphic sarcoma and leiomyosarcomas to better understand these neoplasms and to identify potential therapeutic targets in these tumors. Other research interests include investigating Gastrointestinal Stromal tumors and chondroid tumors of the bone, especially chondrosarcomas.

Clincial and academic
I have been working as a histopathologist since 2001 when I strated my training post, since then I have been interested in the area of soft tissue and bone tumours as it is a rich area of thinking and clinicopathologic correlations, therofore I enjoy this field of pathology as keeps me looking at x-rays and also allows me to contact clinicians very often. I have had two research degrees in pathology, the first degree is an MSc degree and the second is a PhD degree in molecular pathology (2012) from the UK (University of Nottingham). I have published a number of publications and I am a reviewer for a number of international journal in the field of pathology.

Attending Pathologist I sign out bone, soft tissue, and skin specimens only in my current position. I have a particular interest in vascular, nerve sheath, adipocytic, and cutaneous mesencyhmal neoplasms. I am also very involved in teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows and will be the clinical co-director of the skin and musculoskeletal block of the second year medical school curriculum in 2014. I am particularly interested in investigating the clinicopathologic features, especially prognosis, of rare sarcomas and other soft tissue tumors arising in the skin and subcutis. I am also interested in demonstrating the non-specificity of CD10 staining in cutaneous spindle cell tumors so as to discourage over-reliance on this marker in the diagnosis of atypical fibroxanthoma.

My clinical focus is the morphological and molecular diagnosis of human sarcomas. As a physician scientist, my lab research interest is to integrate genetic, epigenetic, and expression alternations in tumor progression and metastasis, with special emphasize on sarcomas and therapy-resistant carcinomas. With the opportunities to integrate large-scaled clinical studies with advanced functional evaluation, my research has been more focused on potential therapeutic opportunities.
